VEIL: Two Sisters, a dance theatre piece with visual projection by NYC choreographer Cynthia Berkshire, will be presented March 29-30 in Speyer Hall. Developing for the previous two years, including travels to India, the piece addresses forgiveness in a relationship between sisters. Structured on the possibility of alternate realms as a sister calls for her older sister who has passed, VEIL conveys a poignant vision of our emotional and psychic lives. A gifted team of interdisciplinary artists, Shaun Irons and Lauren Petty, will be providing visuals. Broadening and deepening the experience of VEIL, they join Krista Jansen, a beautiful performer with Doug Elkins for a number of years. The project team, which includes four additional performers, reunite in VEIL, within a variety of previous experience. Cynthia performed in Shaun & Laurens Why Why Always at Abrons Art Center, 2017; studied Shorin Ryu karate with Krista in the 1990s; and directed the others. "The piece is so beautiful, I feel enriched having watched it" - Andrea S, designer, former dancer * * * * Tickets purchased in-person at the box office will be $20 general admission, $15 student/senior. * * * * 'VEIL: Two Sisters' is presented as a supported rental of The Performance Project @ University Settlement. If you're interested in supported rentals or other artist opportunities with The Performance Project, please contact us at arts@universitysettlement.org.
