First Saturdays for Families: Monumental Landscapes, 2018
Join us for a Family Day drawing inspiration from the exhibition “Jeffrey Gibson: The Anthropophagic Effect” on view at the New Museum from February 13 to June 19, 2019. Using Indigenous handcraft techniques learned over the course of his residency, Gibson has created a new set of garments and helmets for his exhibition in the Fifth Floor Gallery. By engaging with these techniques in a contemporary context, families are encouraged to draw inspiration from these new works. Using natural and other materials, families will weave together sculptural forms of their own.
New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.Sponsors
